Help your child talk and play

In our Play + Communicate Preschool group:

Your child will:

  • practice skills needed for kindergarten/ childcare or school

  • socialise with other children in a safe and calm environment

  • get support to be more comfortable in new environments

  • have opportunities to play with and alongside other children

  • practice sharing and taking turns with peers

You will learn:

  • support your child to say their first words or make their sentences longer

  • learn how to help your child with new routines

  • be ready to have a play date for your child

  • ways you can explain things to your child so that they start to understand

  • feel more confident sending your child to childcare/kinder or school

  • how to help your child play alongside and with other children in a safe and fun way

  • connect with other parents who are on a similar journey

who is this group for

Children who:

  • aged 3- 5 years

  • have goals in talking, understanding language, social skills, playing with different toys, entering into new environments, making friends

  • may have NDIS plans and be self-managed or plan-managed

what does it look like

  • Run by two experienced, Early Intervention, Hanen- trained Speech Pathologists

  • 6 week program

  • We will work with you to set individual goals for your child, continually adapt and personalise the group to your child's interests and needs

  • Small group size with high SP to child ratio, maximum of 5 children in the group

what do we get

  • 6 X 90 minute sessions where speech pathologists interact with your child, show you how you can help your child and facilitate your child to play with peers

  • Connect with other parents and children on a similar journey

  • You will receive a copy of all resources that were used with your child

  • Handouts on skills taught so you can read them at a later date

  • Notes and a report that you can share with your child's team that shows their progress towards goals
